Holton Public Schools Board of Education will have three four-year terms on the ballot this year. District residents interested in seeking election to the Holton Public Schools Board of Education are encouraged to pick up candidate’s petitions and filing documents from the Holton Public Schools District Services Building. The deadline for filing petitions is 4:00 pm on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the Muskegon County Clerk’s office. The election date is Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

What a ride it’s been! Coach Kirk Younts has led our varsity softball program for the past 12 years, helping build one of the most historic programs in both school and county history. The heights this program reached under his leadership have been nothing short of incredible. Coach Younts took over in 2015, and in his first season the team went 37-1, entering the state semifinals undefeated — the best winning percentage season by any Holton team in school history. Since then, the program has sustained a standard of excellence, capturing 10 district titles in 11 seasons, along with 7 regional championships and 7 conference championships. During his tenure, Holton Softball also reached 4 Final Fours and advanced to the state championship game in 2024 — the first appearance in school and Muskegon County history. Coach Younts also finishes his career with a winning percentage above .750 and more than 300 career wins, making him the winningest coach in Holton athletics history. Coach Younts has embodied what it truly means to be a Red Devil. As a Holton alumnus himself, Kirk has made a profound impact on our school district, athletic department, and community. We are incredibly grateful for everything Coach Younts has done both on and off the field, the relentless pursuit of excellence, the willingness to compete against top competition, the endless hours invested, the fundraising efforts, and the commitment to providing our student-athletes and school with one of the best programs around, all while leading with integrity. Because of Holton Softball and Coach Younts’ leadership, people all across the state know where Holton is and who we are. He has represented our school and community in the highest way possible. Thank you, Coach Younts, for always doing things the right way. Our school, student-athletes, staff, and community are grateful for all you’ve done. Well done, Coach! On Holton!

We recently celebrated staff members who have served Holton Public Schools for 20, 25, and 30 years. This included Amy Younts, Brandee Tanner, and Angie Brueck for 20 years of service, Heather Schulz and Todd Peterson for 25 years of service, and Deb McLeod who has served Holton Public Schools for 30 Years! We also honored our retirees, Michelle McCormick, Tammy Fowler, Angie Brueck, Deb McLeod, Dawn Hall, Laura Fialek, Charlotte DeYoung, Brenda Bosset, Jeff Wharton, Jera Adams, and Scott Green. We are so grateful for the hard work and dedication of our staff members. Happy Retirement to all of our retirees! We also recognized our Golden Apple Award winner! The Golden Apple Award is given to an individual or group who volunteers their time in support of our students. This year, we recognized Ashley Alderink who has volunteered for many parent committees and athletic events. Ashley can be seen all over the district lending a helping hand. Thank you, Ashley, for tremendous support! Thank you all for a great school year! Have a great summer!

What a week for Red Devil Athletics! 🥎 Our softball team captured its 12th district championship in the last 14 seasons. ⚾ Our baseball team earned its 5th district championship in program history and its first since 2007. 🏃‍♀️ Our track and field program had four individual state qualifiers compete at the state finals, highlighted by Ryleigh Alderink earning All-State honors with a Top 5 finish in the 3200 meter run and a Top 8 finish in the 1600 meter run. Congratulations to all of our coaches, student-athletes, and families on these outstanding accomplishments. Your hard work and dedication continue to make our community proud! On Holton!
