This Monday the biology students took a field trip to the Robert B. Annis Water Resource Institute facility in Muskegon where they were able to go out and collect samples on the W.G. Jackson. They also conducted some simple experiments on predicting height, temperature and how our Great Lake water Basin works. Thank you to all the facilitators at the facility.

Our 6th grade students had the exciting opportunity to attend a special Author Talk hosted by the Muskegon Area District Library at the Muskegon High School Auditorium. The featured speaker, Christina Soontornvat, author of the novel “A Wish in the Dark,” captivated students with her insights into the writing process, her inspiration for storytelling, and the motivation behind her work. As part of our “March is Reading Month” celebration, students have been reading “A Wish in the Dark” in class, making this experience especially meaningful. Hearing directly from the author deepened their understanding of the story’s characters, setting, and powerful messages about justice, courage, and hope.

Throughout March Reading Month, our junior and senior College Ambassadors have been reading to students in the elementary school. They read to students in kindergarten, first grade, and third grade. They read Who Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up? by Paula Faris. The book explores topics in career exploration and discovering what is important to you. Shoutout to our College Ambassadors for their energy and excitement. They were amazing readers!

Coach Threatt has accepted the position of Head Varsity Football Coach and will bring a wealth of football knowledge and experience to help lead our Red Devil football program to new heights. Mr. Threatt is a graduate of Newaygo and resides in Fremont. He joins us from his most recent stop at Fruitport, where he served as the Head JV Football Coach.
